The Overbecks - newly sorted

Fritz and Hermine Overbeck’s paintings have never been seen like this before: The artist Ulrike Brockmann selected paintings by the Worpswede artist couple and made them the basis of her own works of art. She processed images of the original paintings from around 1900 with the help of a software developed especially for herself, broke them down into their colour values and rearranged them according to the frequency of their occurrence.

Through careful artistic interventions in contrast and differentiation of the number of stripes, independent, non-representational works of art were created that completely detach themselves from the underlying motif and evoke their mood through colour alone.
