Ansgar Skiba – Nature

Ansgar Skiba - Nature

Nature is an event in the works of Ansgar Skiba. The sensuality of his thickly applied colours mirrors the feeling of being overwhelmed by nature, which challenges our everyday habits of perception with its richness in form and colour.

In his drawings with ink or metal point, on the other hand, Ansgar Skiba works with the line solely. Shading and tonality are done only by densification and overlapping, resulting in the impression of depth. Both modalities of art belong together in the work of Ansgar Skiba and bear witness to his relentless preoccupation with nature.

Ansgar Skiba was born in 1959 in Dresden and studied at the Academy of Art in Dresden, as well as – after leaving for Western Germany – in Düsseldorf, where Fritz Overbeck also studied, only 100 years earlier.
